In Soviet times, when the farm was still working, peat was dug in this valley. The water channels stayed behind. Over the years birch trees grew around them, and the place was registered as a forest.
This is not an ordinary forest. You cannot drive into it, and it is hard to get through on foot: water stands between the birches, mirroring the sky and the treetops.
A problem and a wonder
A forest like this brings its challenges. At the same time it is a rare and remarkable natural phenomenon, a nature park of its own kind, and well worth seeing.
